Thank you for clicking on the SUPPORT button!

Supporting Museums Of Minnesota (MOM) is like giving a tax-deductible gift to a person from the past who can inform the future. Really!

You probably have a family memory that ties you together with the rest of your clan. Or maybe it’s a work of art that reminds you of a grandparent, or an even more distant relative.

That’s what MOM is all about … KEEPING THE PAST TOGETHER FOR THE FUTURE!

MOM is a four-part series for Twin Cities Public Television (TPT) network and stations affiliated with the Minnesota Public Television Network. It’s a co-production of TPT and Back On The Mississippi, LLC (BOTM). The series spotlights small, out-of-the-way museums that are obscure but have much to offer.

In a way, it’s an extension of the family we call Minnesota. And a chance for you to help promote and preserve the best of it. Especially those little, out of the way attractions that more people would appreciate, if they only knew about them.

MOM is scheduled to begin production in 2009, and debut in the fall of 2010. The series will air on TPT stations KTCA and KTCI in Minneapolis St. Paul, on the digital/cable Minnesota Channel statewide and in adjoining states, on the stations around the state that are affiliated with the Minnesota Public Television Network, and will be marketed through DVD sales, mobile apps, and other distribution vehicles to be determined (and discovered!). If successful, we plan to expand the concept nationwide, and possibly beyond.

To augment the show, TPT will host a website providing summaries of any and all Minnesota museums, including a photo or other presentation of each museum’s “star attraction” and links to the museums’ own websites.

The initial series is budgeted at $200,365. A pledge of $25,000 has been received from the Engdahl Family Foundation (a non-profit organization administered by the Minneapolis Foundation). Other, smaller pledges have been made since then, which we will post on the website.

WE GREATLY APPRECIATE ANY AND ALL SUPPORT!

Your contribution is fully tax-deductible and as easily made as clicking on the following link, if you are a PayPal user. IFP Minnesota, an association that assists organizations like BOTM and TPT in producing non-profit programming, will process your donation, and provide you with documentation for tax purposes.

If you wish to make a contribution through another method, scroll down to the bottom of the screen for instructions.

In addition to uncovering “lost” museums through the TV series and website, you will help instill civic pride in the towns and communities where they are located. Some of these museums and attractions are truly hurting for support, and exposure through MOM could be just what they need to stay afloat in troubled economic times.

MOM will be produced in the spirit of Back On The Mississippi, a one-hour program on which Back On The Mississippi, LLC, was founded in 2003. Back On The Mississippi won the 2004 Best in Category (Cultural) Silver Telly Award, was picked up by PBS stations and networks in 30 markets, and continues to air here and there across the country. For more info, including a short clip of the program, see www.backonthemississippi.com.

Thank you for your interest. With your help, Museums Of Minnesota will bring much-needed commerce and interest to the cities and towns across the state that house little hidden treasures – the kind of treasures that make Minnesota such an interesting place to live.

Best wishes,

Chuck Strinz
